About SiteSmoke
SiteSmoke is a free accessibility scanner that checks your website against WCAG 2.2 AA standards — the same standards referenced by the ADA, the European Accessibility Act, and Section 508 for web accessibility compliance.
How it works
- 01We render your page in a real browser, exactly as your visitors see it
- 02We crawl your sitemap to discover and scan up to 20 pages
- 03axe-core runs the accessibility audit — the same engine used by Microsoft, Google, and the US government
- 04Our AI translates each issue into plain English and generates a code fix specific to your site
- 05You get a compliance score, legal exposure mapping, and a badge for your site
Why accessibility matters
Over 1 billion people worldwide live with some form of disability. ADA lawsuits against websites have increased significantly in recent years, and the European Accessibility Act now requires compliance for digital products sold to EU consumers.
Accessible websites also perform better in search rankings. And it's the right thing to do — everyone deserves equal access to the web.
The badge
After scanning, you can add an accessibility badge to your website. The badge displays your score and links to a verification page. With the badge installed, you can re-scan anytime to update your score as you fix issues. It's a visible signal that you take accessibility seriously.
Scoring
Scores start at 100 and deduct by severity: critical issues deduct 15 points, serious 10, moderate 5, and minor 2. This gives a practical snapshot of compliance — not a legal opinion, but a starting point for improvement.
